Recap: London Men's Fashion Week SS17

As London’s Mens Fashion week came to a close yesterday, it’s time to reflect on what we saw from some of the most creative menswear designers in the world right now.

J.W. ANDERSON

J.W. Anderson explores nostalgic and his past in his SS17 collection. The collection was a mixture of crafted crown headpieces, tinted aviator goggles, jigsaw puzzle prints, and oversized sleeves. The designer had cited the late David Bowie as an inspiration, which you can really see in the collection with the flamboyant prints.

LOU DALTON

I’m a big fan of the colour palette of this collection: orange, forest green, yellow & cream. It’s bold and in your face, yet paired down with neutrals, it’s totally wearable. Lou says the collection was inspired by hiking, an activity she enjoys doing with her brother. She wanted the clothing to be freeing, and not stuffy – which is probably why the collection looks more leisure-y compared to previous seasons.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

In typical McQueen fashion (no pun intended), this collection transports me to a historical beautiful fantasy world that I don’t want to leave. Impeccable tailoring as usual; straight and long silhouettes dominate this collection. I’m a big fan of the embellished suit jackets and all of the stunning intricate prints.

CRAIG GREEN

Deconstruction at it’s best, Craig Green’s SS17 collection was one of the most raved about at this month’s LCM. Constantly playing with the ideal of restriction and tying in elements of bondage, the ties and strapping have become somewhat of Green’s trademarks.
